Emma’s grandmother, Grandma Rose, had passed away a few days ago. Emma was heartbroken. She missed her grandma’s warm hugs, her sweet smile, and her comforting presence.
Emma’s parents tried to comfort her, but she couldn’t shake off the sadness. She kept thinking about all the fun times she had with Grandma Rose.
One day, while Emma was sitting in her room, staring at a photo of her and Grandma Rose, her mom came in and sat beside her. “Emma, I know you’re missing Grandma Rose so much,” she said gently. “But I want you to remember something important.”
“What’s that, Mom?” Emma asked, looking up at her mom with tears in her eyes.
“We believe in a God who loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and rise again from the dead,” her mom explained. “And because of Jesus’ resurrection, we have hope that we will see Grandma Rose again.”
Emma’s eyes widened with surprise. “Really? We’ll see Grandma Rose again?”
Her mom nodded. “Yes, sweetie. The Bible says that Jesus is the resurrection and the life, and that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.”
Emma thought about this for a moment. She remembered the story of Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead. She felt a spark of hope ignite within her.
Her mom continued, “Just like a seedling needs time to grow and bloom, our hope of seeing Grandma Rose again needs time to grow and flourish. But with faith in Jesus, we can face the sadness of losing someone we love, knowing that we will see them again in heaven.”
Emma smiled slightly, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. She looked at the photo of her and Grandma Rose again, but this time, she saw it with new eyes.
“I’ll always miss Grandma Rose,” Emma said, “but I’m glad we’ll see her again someday.”
Her mom hugged her tightly. “Me too, sweetie. Me too.”
