It was a sunny Monday morning at Springdale Christian Elementary School. The students were chatting excitedly about their weekends as they walked into their classrooms.
In Mrs. Johnson’s class, a new student named Sophia walked in, looking a bit nervous. She had just moved to Springdale from another town and didn’t know anyone.
As Sophia looked for an empty seat, she noticed that the other students were looking at her. She felt even more nervous and alone.
But then, something she did not expect happened. A girl named Emma, who sat in the back of the classroom, caught Sophia’s eye and smiled. Emma got up from her seat and walked over to Sophia.
“Hi, I’m Emma,” she said, holding out her hand. “Welcome to our class. Would you like to sit with me?”
Sophia’s face lit up with a smile as she shook Emma’s hand. “Thanks, Emma. I’m Sophia.”
Throughout the day, Emma showed Sophia around the school, introducing her to their friends and teachers. She even shared her lunch with Sophia, who had forgotten to bring along her own.
As the days went by, Sophia felt more and more at home in her new school, thanks to Emma’s kindness.
One day, Sophia asked Emma, “Why are you being so nice to me? I’m just a new student.”
Emma smiled and said, “My mom who is a Christian always tells me that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. That our Lord Jesus demands that we love our neighbors as ourselves.”
Sophia’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really? I didn’t know that.”
Emma nodded. “Yeah, it’s in the Bible. And I believe it’s more applicable to those who might be feeling lonely or left out.”
Needless to say, Sophia felt grateful for Emma’s kindness and wished that all kids she had known were of the same heart. “The world would be a better place to live in.” She thought to herself.
As the weeks went by, Sophia found that the school was positively different from the non-Christian one she was from.
